I was wondering what exactly is Low English?

Hello,

In any billiards sports (snooker, three cushion billiards, pool, etc...), the explanation for "low english" is the following : When you strike the cue ball on its lower half attempting to impart back spin. So when it hits a sitter it will quickly vacate the area and not follow the duck into the pocket. You may want to chalk up your cue stick.

So in other words, it's just a screw shot.
